As the final day of Cheltenham approaches, we take a look at what is yet to come and how the event has panned out so far.
We are seeing both very predictable and extremely unpredictable results so far this year. You should always compare betting sites before placing a bet on horse racing. This will ensure you get the best odds.
From the get-go, there has been nail biting, teeth gritting drama. From the first race, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, which took place on Tuesday and resulted in a photo finish between Abracadabras and Shishkin, two excellent races from both horses and jockeys, with Shishkin taking the verdict by a head. Straightaway we knew we were in for a treat.
Epatante was the only clear favourite to win on the opening day when prevailing in the featured Champion Hurdle. Two more favourites landed the odds on Wednesday including one of the Irish bankers, Envoi Allen, in the opening event but another of the irish trained hot-pots, Tiger Roll, was a little disappointing when failing to complete a third straight victory in the Cross Country race and a fifth in all at the Cheltenham Festival.
Thursday began with an absolute thriller when Samcro edged out Melon by the narrowest of margins with the legend Faugheen close on their heels in third. Then we had the biggest shock of the meeting so far when Lisnagar Oscar popped up at 50/1 in the Stayers’ Hurdle.

There are 7 races on the final day, and this is how the race card is looking:
The final day of Cheltenham is always a big one with the Gold Cup as the centrepiece, as we say farewell to the competition until next year.
This year’s big race sees the Willie Mullins trained Al Boum Photo attempt to become the first horse to win back to back Gold Cups since Best Mate in the early 2000’s.
Best Mate went on to complete a hat trick of victories in National Hunt’s blue riband event and if the Mullins runner does succeed it will make the year go quicker for many racing fans as they anticipate the prospect of another triple winner of the event in twelve month’s time.
The predicted forecast is set to be cloudy with a possibility of rain, but nothing major, which will make for a nice good to soft ground for the horses.
