Reverend springs 28/1 shock in Stayers Reverend Hubert may have been reluctant to head to the start but he proved very game in the finish as he landed the O’Driscolls Irish EBF Stayers Handicap at the Curragh for Charles Byrnes. Adam Caffrey had to hop off his mount heading down and he was led to the start. In the race he settled towards the rear and was driven to progress two furlongs from home. The 28/1 shot found plenty for his partner, bursting through to lead under a furlong out and going on to hold the late challenge of Hatim (50/1) by half-a-length. Reverend Hubert had been well beaten on his comeback run here last month and Byrnes said:- "It was hard to fancy him after the last day. I thought he'd run well but I didn't think he'd win to be honest. “The day he won in Newmarket, they went mad early on. The faster they go and, the better the ground, the better he is.  "The GPT in Galway would be the obvious race for him. There is a three-mile hurdle race in Cork in two weeks time, I don't know whether he'll go there now or not."  "Domination was the only other winner I've had here. Hopefully it won't be as long as him again." (Quotes by John O’Riordan)
