Cheltenham races moved to Newbury

Newbury on Wednesday will stage an eight-race bonanza after two valuable races were salvaged from Cheltenham`s abandoned card.

The British Horseracing Board has arranged for the Bula Hurdle and the Relkeel Hurdle to be transferred to the Berkshire course following the loss of the Cheltenham card because of frost.

The Grade Two Bula Hurdle will carry Stg£30,000 of added prize-money and will be run as the fourth event at 1.30pm.

The Relkeel Hurdle (For The Sport Of Kings Challenge) will have Stg£15,000 added to the stakes and will be run as the second race at 12.30pm.

Original entries will stand for the two races and only those horses entered at the five-day stage for Cheltenham will be allowed to run at Newbury.

All original stakes will be returned and a revised stake will be payable for those declared.

The Newbury meeting will now start at 12 noon.
