The concluding 1m2f 3-y-o handicap at Naas went to 6/1 joint favourite Classical Memories in the hands of Leigh Roche.

Third at Gowran on her previous start, the daughter of Kodi Bear led from an early stage and kept up the gallop in the straight to beat Lily Of The Glen (13/2) by two lengths.

Winning trainer Jarlath Fahey commented: “Her form the last day gave her a good chance and a couple of withdrawals, including a fancied one, helped.

“We were a little bit concerned as we thought she might want a little bit more ease in the ground. We were hoping for a few showers before racing but they didn’t arrive.

“She did the job well. Leigh rode her the last day and he knew exactly what to do with her. They went steady and she’s a good galloper and keeps the pace the whole way through. She keeps going.

“She’s a half-sister to (three-time winner for the yard) Lyrical Attraction who used to race much the same. She’s a homebred by David and Catherine Harrison.

“She’ll stay in that company and at least we can beat the ballot system now and we can place her where we want to again.”
