Clearing heads to France

Connections of Clearing have decided by bypass the Sagitta 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday in favour of the French equivalent at Longchamp eight days later.

The Khaled Abdulla-owned colt made a winning reappearance in the Victor Chandler European Free Handicap to earn a quote of 14-1 from Ladbrokes for Saturday`s Classic.

But the owner`s racing manager Teddy Beckett said today: 'We have made a decision and the decision is that he will go to France for the French 2000 Guineas (Dubai Poule d`Essai des Poulains).

'Only if there were significant defectors from the 2000 Guineas would we consider running him at Newmarket.

'We felt he had his best chance in France.'

Retained jockey Richard Hughes will ride Clearing in France.
