Connections Expecting Big Youmzain Run

Youmzain heads into tomorrow's Grosser Preis von Baden with the confident backing of his connections.

Mick Channon's colt gained the sole Group One victory of his career so far in Germany last year after taking the Preis von Europa, and he bounced right back to form last time when second to Dylan Thomas in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

That puts him ahead of one of his rivals, Prince Flori, although he finished behind both that horse and Mountain High in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

'He's been working exceptionally well and I think he's certainly in front of Sir Michael Stoute's horse (Mountain High),' said Bruce Raymond, racing manager to Youmzain's owner Jaber Abdullah.

'If he runs like he did in the King George, you would have to be pretty confident he would win, and he certainly should be sent off favourite.'

Other notable entries in the nine-runner field include Peter Schiergen's Axxos and Adlerflug, who won the German Derby in electric fashion last time.
