Corelli Ruled Out For Season Captain Corelli, winner of the Tommy Whittle Chase, will not run again this season after sustaining a leg injury. The nine-year-old was a 20-length winner over Lord Transcend in the Haydock feature last month but he has since failed to sparkle when third over hurdles at Newbury. Trainer Philip Hobbs told the Racing Post: 'Unfortunately, the horse suffered a recurrence of an old leg injury after his last run over hurdles at Newbury, which could well explain why he was below par.' Captain Corelli, winner of three of his 14 starts, had been as low as 25-1 with Paddy Power for the John Smith´s Grand National.(C) PA Sport
