By Brian Fleming.While the main focus of attention for many is the crucial Grand Slam decider at Lansdowne Road this afternoon punters, like Ireland, are faced with a mammoth task on a tricky mixed programme at Cork, writes Brian Fleming. Aidan O'Brien got the new season off to a winning start last weekend when he scooped the first juvenile contest of the current campaign and it looks highly probable that he will repeat that feat in the opening EBF Maiden. Devil Moon is the horse in question that can make it two from two in the juvenile ranks for Ballydoyle. The son of Danehill and Moon Drop is bred for the job and will be difficult to oppose. The following FBD 3yo Maiden is without a Ballydoyle challenger but Curragh handler Dermot Weld, who has flown the flag so many times for Ireland on the international stage, is two-handed with newcomer Graceunderpressure the selected mount of stable jockey Pat Smullen. It looks a very ordinary maiden and market support for this Labeeb filly should be followed. Jumping fans are well catered for but finding winners won't be easy. The Powers Gold Label Championship Handicap Hurdle looks wide open but Rapid Deployment might prove up to the test after his recent fourth to Keepatem over three miles. Returning back to the minimum trip today should bring out the best in Pat Hughes' charge. Foxchapel King is faced with a difficult assignment with 12-3 to carry in the valuable FBD Insurance Handicap Chase and he shouldn't be too far away on his final run before contesting the Powers Gold Label Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday April 21st. However, Just In Debt might be the likely value and, in receipt of two stone from the top-weight, he gets the vote to come up trumps for Pat Doyle and the lucky Absent Friends Syndicate, who have also enjoyed success with Friends Amigo.
