Cotter hopeful of big run from Pinar Del Rio at the Curragh Trainer Kieran Cotter is hopeful that sprinter Pinar Del Rio can return to something like his best form at the Curragh on Saturday. A three-timer winner prior to joining the stable, the gelding finished runner-up on his first two starts for Cotter. However, the six-year-old failed to build on that initial promise when down the field on his latest two appearances. Speaking at Bellewstown, after Arklow Lad won his maiden, Cotter said: "It (soft ground) won't inconvenience him. "Pinar and this fella (Arklow Lad) worked Sunday morning and I think the others were a bit disappointed with Pinar in his piece of work, but we knew the raw speed this fella had. It has turned out fairly well. "He (Pinar Del Rio) runs Saturday now, and I think Nicola Burns rides him and claims 7lb. "He would (have a chance if returning to form) and he is after dropping down the ratings a little bit. He is on 75 and please God he puts in a good shout on Saturday."
