The Comer Group International Irish St. Leger at the Curragh on September 14th is now a real possibility for Crystal Black.

Unbeaten in four starts last season, Gerry Keane's stable star went down by just half-a-length when bidding to win the Ballyroan Stakes for a second successive year at Leopardstown on Thursday.

"We're delighted with the run and he has come out of it great. We'd love to have won, obviously, but he’s in good form and ate up well," Keane said after saddling a winner at Wexford on Friday.

"We're still thinking about the Leger and there are other options on Champions Weekend. There is also a mile and a half Group 3 (Kilternan Stakes) at Leopardstown.

"We'll see how he is and the prize money in the Leger is very good, even for second. If it cut up, we'd have to think about it."
