Beauvallon followed up a Limerick maiden win last month when causing a 28/1 surprise in the Specialist Group Novice Hurdle, the opening race on day three at the Punchestown Festival.

The Camelot gelding travelled well on the outer to challenge in the straight and was ridden out by Danny Mullins on the run-in to get the better of Immediate Effect

Two and a half lengths separated the pair at the line with Gameball a further three and a quarter lengths away in third.

Willie Mullins, saddling his sixth winner here this week, said: “I’m delighted with that performance. He’s a horse that is improving.

“He wasn’t always in love with the game, but I think he’s jumping better than he’s Flat racing. We might go back on the Flat again with him this summer though.

“He’s going the right way and it’s a nice win for Patrick Wynn-Jones who is the manager for Barnane Stud. Himself and a few pals have this horse.

“They brought him back from France to give a trial to and he’s trialling well at the moment!”
