Dash Oaks Bid In The Balance

Luca Cumani is not satisfied with the progress of his leading Vodafone Oaks fancy Dash To The Top and is unsure as to whether the filly will make the Epsom Classic.

The daughter of Montjeu was a close third to Playful Act on her third and final start as a juvenile but is reported to be slow to come to hand and has not raced this season.

Cumani had been considering Friday´s Swettenham Stud Fillies´ Trial Stakes at Newbury for her reappearance, but that has been ruled out.

'She´s still looking a bit wintry and we´ve decided not to ask her to race until we´re happy with her,' Cumani told the Racing Post.

'Fillies can blossom from one day to the next at this time of the year, so it is hard to say what will happen.

'It really is a day-by-day situation. It´s certainly not the ideal situation that we couldn´t run her at Newbury, but there is still the possibility of the Lupe (at Goodwood on May 19) and there is also the possibility of going to Epsom first time out - it has been done before and we could do it with her.

'I´m happy with the way the filly is working but we are waiting for her to turn the corner and we won´t be committing her to anything until she does.'

Dash To The Top is a general 8-1 shot for the Oaks on June 3.
