Henry de Bromhead has two strong contenders in Gorgeous Tom and Heart Wood for the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse tomorrow.

Heart Wood has already enjoyed considerable success over fences having impressively landed the €150,000 O’Driscolls Irish Whiskey Leopardstown Handicap Chase and beat Corbetts Cross when reappearing in the Listed Michael Hickey Memorial Chase at Wexford.

Gorgeous Tom has taken well to fences winning both his completed starts at Wexford and last time in the Grade 3 Paddy Power Betting Shops Irish EBF Novice Chase at Cork.

De Bromhead said, “Gorgeous Tom was always going to be a better chaser. He’s a really nice horse and has done little wrong.

“He made a mistake in Tipperary but seemed to learn from that and he jumped brilliant in Cork.

“Heart Wood is obviously a very nice horse as well and is still a novice. This is his last opportunity as a novice and hoping for a good run.

“Gorgeous Tom would prefer nicer ground and I’d say Heart Wood goes on most types of ground.”

The other four runners in the 'Drinmore' all come from the Gordon Elliott yard with Firefox the mount of Jack Kennedy.
