De Vere attracts top-class entry

Cheltenham Festival and Grand National hopes dominate the entries for the De Vere Gold Cup at Haydock.

The Stg£100,000 event, due to be held on February 23rd is the most valuable handicap chase of the National Hunt season so far and is set to have star-studded line-up.

The 43 entries for the three-and-a-half mile trip are headed by Pillar Property Chase winner Rince Ri, one of three Irish horses in for the race.

Behrajan heads the home defence along with Kingsmark, What`s Up Boys, Bacchanal, Beau and Legal Right.

The Last Fling, successful two years ago, is also due to take part as is Frantic Tan, winner of the 2001 renewal.

Haydock Park`s own racehorse Streamstown, trained by Ferdy Murphy, is also entered for the contest.

Champion trainer Martin Pipe is responsible for five entries as Take Control, Arlas, Manx Magic, Carryonharry and Majed are all among the acceptors.
