Debate heads 14 left in Temple

A field of 14 have stood their ground at the five-day stage for Saturday`s Tripleprint Temple Stakes.

John Hammond`s French raider Nuclear Debate heads the weights on 9st 10lb, which includes a 7lb penalty for his win in last year`s Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

He will have to give weight away to all of his rivals if he is win this Group Two prize, where he could face Godolphin`s Bertolini, the horse he beat by one and a quarter lengths in the Nunthorpe.

William Haggas is set to run Superstar Leo, last year`s top sprinting juvenile, who won the Norfolk Stakes, the Weatherbys Super Sprint and the Flying Childers Stakes, before signing off with a sensational second place to Namid in the Prix de l`Abbaye at Longchamp on Arc de Triomphe day.

A total of 13 entries have been made for the Bonusprint Stakes (registered as the Henry II Stakes), on the same card.

Last year`s winner Persian Punch, forced to miss last week`s Yorkshire Cup after suffering a slight setback, is on courseto run in a race he has won no less than three times in the last four years.

The Richard Hannon-trained Churlish Charm, who chased him home 12 months ago, is set to renew rivalry.
