Debate storms home in Sprint Cup Nuclear Debate (11-2) came with a powerful burst at the furlong pole to land the Group One Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup at Haydock today.John Hammond`s charge was always in contention as the race split into two contests with Minardi, Three Points and Tedburrow electing to run down the far side while the remainder, led by Mull Of Kintyre, made their way down the cxentre of the track. In the end, this group held the advantage and, as the runners entered the final 220 yards, it was Gerald Mosse who produced his charge - generally regarded as a five furlong specialist - with an emphatic charge which quickly decided the issue. The French raider finally finished three lengths in front of Mount Abu with Monkston Point a further three quarters of a length back in third. The 7-2 favourite Pipalong flattered to deceive. After being close to the pace in the early stages, Tim Easterby`s charge faded to finish down the field. After weighing in, Mosse said: 'The horse was very, very good - on top form today. When he came out of the gate, he was very relaxed, very quiet.'I wasn`t worried about the pace and distance because this horse always comes from behind.'He passed them like he was by himself in the race. He liked the ground. I am very happy indeed.'
