Decent Prospects on Show at Exeter

They both feature amongst the horses to follow list in the Formcard Point-to-Point Review of 2007/2008 and they clash in the opener at Exeter today provided the meeting survives a 7.30am inspection.

Another Display and Inchidaly Rock face Alan King's Junior, third in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham back in March, but a disappointing favourite seventeen days ago in the Grade 2 Persian War Novices' Hurdle at Chepstow.

Pat O'Connor's homebred, Another Display gained many admirers at Carrigtwohill last February. Following up his maiden win at Avaune, he hit the front before two out where he made a horrendous blunder, but the six-year-old was still able to storm clear to account for his main market rival, Silence Speaks, by twelve lengths.

The Co. Waterford trainer planned to go for a bumper after that with Another Display, who then sported the silks of his wife, Norma.

However he was later sold to race cross-channel. Now in David Pipe's care, he said of the Air Display gelding in a recent stable tour in the Racing Post: "He won two point-to-points and is a three mile chaser in the making. One of his points was in bottomless ground and I can see him staying all day. Got balloted out of a bumper at Plumpton last week, so we'll go straight over hurdles with him, over two and a half to three miles."

Michael O'Connor partnered Another Display to his brace of wins in the 'pointing' fields and the Liscarroll, Co. Cork amateur was also aboard Inchidaly Rock for all three of his victories.

In the colours of the O'Flynns, from Banteer, Co. Cork, Inchidaly Rock won for trainer Michael Winters at Aghabullogue, the Buster King (an unraced Busted horse) gelding followed up at Bandon before bringing up the hat-trick at Liscarroll, on a day when the action had to be curtailed due to torrential rain.

Now in the ownership of Margaret Findlay and Paul Barber, Paul Nicholls said the following of this tough sort in his stable tour in the Racing Post: "Winner of three Irish point-to-points; I don't know what the form amounted to, and although I read in the Irish annual that he was one of their best in the last decade, I'd say at this stage he's a nice horse without being an absolute superstar.

"He has taken a while to acclimatise to our way of doing things, but has finally turned the corner and is schooling away great. Still not ready (this stable tour appeared on October 27th) for his debut in a staying novice hurdle, but I'm starting to like what I see."

Meanwhile David Pipe also sends Gentle Ranger to Sedgefield for a maiden chase with Tom Scudamore up. The Master of Pond House was most encouraging about the former Paul Cashman-trained Killeagh point-to-point winner in his Racing Post stable tour and the towering Presenting six-year-old would appear to have a leading chance in the 1.50.
