Derby hope Curtain in good heart

Leading Vodafone Derby hope Curtain Call is continuing to please trainer Luca Cumani in the build-up to Epsom´s June 7th highlight.

The Sadler´s Wells colt reappeared with a smooth victory at Nottingham but missed his intended prep run in the Lingfield Derby Trial due to unsuitably quick ground.

Despite having to mastermind his Derby challenge without another run this season, Cumani is more than satisfied with his current condition.

"As a consequence of not being able to run at Lingfield we now have the difficult task of keeping him at his peak rather than building him back up after a run," explained the trainer.

"Fortunately he is good at demonstrating his wellbeing and seems to be a horse that can take plenty of work and thrives on it.

"He looks in peak condition, his coat immaculate and while he may not be a very tall horse, he is incredibly muscular," he told his website.

"In his demeanour he is showing the right signs, irrepressibly fresh and pleased with himself in spite of the amount of work he has had."

Curtain Call is as short as 4-1 with totesport for next month´s Derby.
