Dettori to ride Tobougg at Newmarket

Frankie Dettori has been re-routed to ride Tobougg in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 5th.

The Italian had been due to ride Street Cry for Godolphin in the Kentucky Derby on that day with Australian Craig Williams taking the mount on Tobougg in the first British Classic of the year.

But following Street Cry`s injury this weekend and subsequent withdrawal from the first leg of the American Triple Crown, the decision has been taken to switch Dettori back to Britain.

Tobougg finished a close third to Rumpold in Godolphin`s first trial for colts at Nad al Sheba earlier this month. Stablemate Rumpold is also set to take part in the Guineas but riding plans are yet to be finalised.

American David Flores, who rode Express Tour to victory in last month`s UAE Derby, will now partner him in Kentucky.

Williams may now be left without a ride in the race as Mick Channon`s most obvious candidate, Imperial Dancer, is set to be partnered by Steve Drowne.

His agent, Ian Wardle, said: 'It`s a shame for Craig but not an unexpected decision - I`ve just been waiting for the call really.

'I don`t know if there is anything else for him to ride, I`ll have to have a look and start making a few calls.'
