Dobbin sweet on Valigan chance

Tony Dobbin believes the well-backed Valigan is the horse to beat in the Stg#50,000 Great Yorkshire Chase on Saturday.

Dobbin partnered the eight-year-old to victory at Musselburgh last month but will not be riding Len Lungo`s charge in the Town Moor feature as he will at Ayr to take the mount on stable companion The Bajan Bandit.

In Dobbin`s absence Lungo has snapped up Richard McGrath for the mount on the grey gelding.

'The Bajan Bandit is going to Ayr so I wouldn`t get off him, but Valigan would have a great chance in the Great Yorkshire Chase,' Dobbin told the Racing Channel this afternoon.

'He loves the ground, he`s off a fantastic weight of 10st 1lb, he`ll stay all day and he`s a brilliant jumper.

'The race will suit him and he seems very well at the moment. It`s a very good ride for Richard to get.'

Valigan was cut to 8-1 from 12-1 with Coral yesterday.
