Downpatrick on Friday postponed The Turf Club have postponed the Downpatrick meeting scheduled for Friday by 24 hours after The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, declared it as a national day of mourning for those killed in the terrorist attacks on the United States. Declarations for the meeting will still be made tomorrow while the Turf Club`s office will be open on Friday to take declarations for Saturday`s and Sunday`s meetings at the Curragh.Racing across America was canceled yesterday including a meeting at Belmont Park in New York which was scheduled for today.Belmont Park is set to host the Breeders` Cup on October 27th but it is too early to speculate whether the events of yesterday will have any impact on the racing festival.
