Drowne confident Logic will stay

Jockey Steve Drowne is 'very confident' that Queen`s Logic, last year`s juvenile champion filly, will stay the Classic distance of a mile in the Sagitta 1000 Guineas.

Drowne partnered the Mick Channon-trained filly in an impressive work-out over about seven furlongs earlier this week and is excited about teaming up with her again on the track.

'I`m very confident that she`ll stay,' he said today. 'She`s never felt like a sprinter to me. She`s not got the physique or the sprinter`s attitude and she settles so well.'

Queen`s Logic went through her juvenile campaign unbeaten in four races with Drowne in the saddle on the last three occasions.

It was her scintillating seven-length win in the Group One Shadwell Stud Cheveley Park Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket last October that saw her elevated to ante-post favouritism for the 1000 Guineas on May 5th.

She is currently quoted at 9-4 by William Hill.

'They went a hell of a gallop in the Cheveley Park and she was stretching at the line. Everything indicates that she will get the mile,' said Drowne.

The jockey is delighted with the progress she has made over the winter.

Said Drowne: 'We couldn`t be more pleased with her. She appeared to work exactly the same as she did before she won the Cheveley Park last autumn.

'She settled lovely as ever, quickened past and came away nicely.

'We couldn`t be happier with her. Obviously you don`t know for sure until you run her but she has given me exactly the same feel as she did last year.

'She has filled out nice and has grown in height a little bit. She looks smashing in her coat and things have gone to plan.

'I`ve ridden nearly all her work since I came back from Dubai in early March. The other day was the main bit of work other than that she`s just being doing pipe-openers. Everything seems to be in order and I`m very excited about her.'

Queen`s Logic is likely to return to action in the Group Three Dubai Duty Free Stakes, formerly knownas the Fred Darling Stakes, over seven furlongs at Newbury on Saturday week.
