Drowne out until weekend

Steve Drowne has given up his rides at Brighton today and could be out of action until the weekend as a result of a fall at Warwick on Wednesday.

The English jockey was fortunate to escape serious injury when his mount Misbehaviour slipped up on the home turn in the Renault Trafic Van Handicap.

The jockey gave up his remaining two rides and went to Warwick General Hospital for examination.

'I`m just a bit stiff this morning,' Drowne said. 'I went and had X-rays but there`s nothing broken - no serious damage.

'I`m going to take at least a couple of days off. I may be back on Saturday but it could be Monday. I`ll just see how I am tomorrow.

'I was very lucky. I got a fair old kick on the back and I think that`s what`s done the damage.'

Drowne, stable jockey to Mick Channon, is looking forward to next week`s Craven Meeting at Newmarket and added: 'The important thing is next week with the big trials coming up. I want to be fully fit for then.'
