Dunlop Hoping For Dry Spell

Ed Dunlop has re-iterated that his popular mare Ouija Board will not contest Saturday's Baileys Irish Champion Stakes unless conditions are in her favour.

The Newmarket handler is keeping a careful eye on the Leopardstown ground as he would not want it too soft for his stable star.

Dunlop is already eyeing an alternative engagement in France but a possible Leopardstown clash with last year's Arc winner Hurricane Run would hold no fears for him.

'I'm not sure if Hurricane Run is a definite runner yet but she (Ouija Board) is at the stage of her career where we are not going to run away from Hurricane Run,' said Dunlop.

'He'll be a short-priced favourite as he is a worthy champion but she seems well and I hope the Goodwood race didn't take too much out of her.

'If the ground is wrong she won't run though. She is in the Prix Vermeille and we will keep an eye on the French ground but if it does lash down she wouldn't run at Leopardstown,' he told Racing UK.
