ENZELI GOES DOWN UNDER

Enzeli has been given the green light to run in next month`s Foster`s Melbourne Cup - but will be doing so in new ownership.

The winner of last year`s Gold Cup at Royal Ascot has changed hands and will run in new colours on November 7th at Flemington.

A spokesman for trainer John Oxx said this evening: 'The horse is in new ownership but I am not a liberty to say who the new owners are.

'As far as I am aware the horse will stay with us in his build-up to the Melbourne Cup and after that he will be trained in Australia.'

Enzeli won the Gold Cup and this year`s Doncaster Cup in the colours of the Aga Khan.

The last Irish-trained horse to go for the Melbourne Cup was the Kevin Prendergast-trained Oscar Schindler, who started the 4-1 favourite in 1996 but could finish only 15th.

But Dermot Weld`s Vintage Crop was successful in 1993, the only European-trained horse to win the race.
