Eddery escapes injury in Doncaster fall Pat Eddery had mixed fortunes on his Bank Holiday trip to Doncaster today but fortunately he escaped serious injury when Undeniable threw his head back and gave him a heavy bang in the face before the Joe Sime Memorial Handicap. The 11-times champion was thrown to the ground and ominously lay still for a few minutes, but after being attended by the paramedics he returned to the weighing-room and after speaking with the racecourse doctor gave up his remaining ride. His agent Mike Hawkett said later: 'I have spoken to Pat and his mouth is very sore and he decided to give up his remaining ride as he felt he would not be able to do the horse justice. 'He will see how he is in the morning, but he is hopeful that he will be back in action tomorrow. He has five rides at Leicester and five at Windsor.` Eddery had earlier continued in sparkling form as he brought the John Dunlop trained Dandoun a decisive length and a half winner from Aldebaran in the Doncaster Racecourse Sponsorship Club Conditions Stakes. Dandoun carries the colours of Prince A A Faisal whose racing manager Major Johnny Lewis said: 'I believe they think a lot of the second so it was a good performance. He is a very willing horse and he is in the St James`s Palace (at Royal Ascot) but we will have to see what they decided to do.' There were mixed fortunes for Pat`s brother Paul too. He kept Ginko going strongly to hold off Ringside Jack in the `Juggler Handicap` but the stewards decided he had been guilty of irresponsible riding of a minor nature approaching the three furlong marker where Gingo was considered to have interfered with Speed Venture. He was suspended for six days for irresponsible riding of a major nature at Redcar on Thursday, but he is appealing against that decision.
