Endless Hall wins Singapore Cup Endless Hall, ridden by 20-year-old Irishman Jamie Spencer and trained by Newmarket-based Luca Cumani, won the U.S. $1.6 million Singapore Airlines International Cup in record time on Saturday. The horse had half a length to spare over Jim and Tonic, trained by Frenchman Francois Doumen and partnered by Gerald Mosse. Third place in the 10-strong field went to With The Flow, ridden by Olivier Doleuze. Jim And Tonic, the pre-race favourite, finished runner-up for the second year in a row. Last year the seven-year-old had to yield to the locally trained Ouzo, missing on Saturday because of a leg injury. Endless Hall raced handily as American horse Lazy Lode, ridden by Laffit Pincay Jr., led the way. But Lazy Lode faded and after Endless Hall took the lead going into the final bend the horse responded splendidly all the way to the line. Although Jim And Tonic provided a persistent challenge, in the sprint to the finish Endless Hall held on well. Jockey Spencer, in a hurry to catch a flight to Paris for Sunday`s French Guineas meeting at Longchamp, said: 'That was unbelievable. He travelled thoughout the race and kept picking up. 'We knew he had come on leaps and bounds after Dubai and I`m absolutely delighted with him. He stays really well and I still think that a mile and a half will suit him better.' Endless Hall had finished fourth in the Dubai Sheema Classic at the World Cup meeting in March. Winning trainer`s wife Sara Cumani said: 'I have to admit that I was very worried when I saw Jim And Tonic stalking him like that. I was just praying that he would hold on and he did.' Cumani received the winning trophy from Singapore president S. R. Nathan, who was the chief guest for the richest horse race in the region. The winner`s time of 2:00.80 bettered the old record of 2:02.30 for 2,000 metres held by Silvano, who managed to finish only fifth on Saturday. Pincay Jr. said: 'Lazy Lode broke quick and we were travelling well in front but I was surprised when the other horses came past me. He barely responded. It was like he just emptied on me.'
