David Nagle's consistent five-year-old picked up a 5lb penalty in winning a Group Three at the Curragh on Saturday, beating multiple Group One winner Starspangledbanner in the process. That leaves him with 10st but Nagle is keen to ease the burden with the help of useful 5lb claimer Enright, who is dual-purpose jockey who rides principally for Dessie Hughes. "If it comes up soft enough we'll run," said Nagle. "He's in good form and there's no other suitable race until Ascot on October 20th. I can't see any reason not to run. "I'll probably claim off him and Mark Enright will probably ride. "He's been on the go a long time, he ran on the first day of the season at the Curragh, but he's holding his form brilliantly. "He beat Gordon Lord Byron at Naas, giving him 5lb, and he has won at York and been second in a Group One, and the third that day, My Girl Anna, was getting well over a stone off us and has won a Group Three. "We've won at Newmarket, run well in the Wokingham, won a Group Three at Newcastle and won at the weekend when the ground was a bit quick for him really. "It's not like the old days anymore with 2st from top to bottom. If we take 5lb off with Mark he'll be running off 9st 9lb and the bottom weight is likely to have 8st 13lb so it's not too bad. "He ran in the Silver Cup last year and was fourth but he was stuck out on his own in the middle. "Last season he started on 69 and is now rated 109. He's not stopped improving and we've only just got to know him." The current going is good to soft, soft in places with showers forecast for the rest of the week. A total of 176 stood their ground for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Cups with notable absentees including Picabo, Duke Of Firenze and Van Ellis. Local favourite Hawkeyethenoo, trained by Jim Goldie, has attracted support and is the 12-1 clear market leader with the sponsors as he aims to become the first Scottish-trained winner for 37 years since Roman Warrior in 1975. Ian Semple's Cheviot is another possible for the home team.
