Exeter Beckons For Demon

Henrietta Knight has confirmed Racing Demon will take up an option at Exeter on Sunday rather than run in the Kingmaker Novices' Chase at Warwick tomorrow.

The six-year-old has been denied an outing in recent weeks for one reason or another but ? weather permitting ? Knight hopes the ante-post Arkle Trophy favourite can enhance his reputation at the Devon track.

He is set to run in the South West Racing Club Novices' Chase over two miles and three furlongs, a race which the Wantage trainer feels will put him spot on for Cheltenham.

'He goes to Exeter on Sunday all being well,' Knight told Racing UK. 'Exeter is the only option now, he won't be going to Warwick.

'Unfortunately he seems like one of those horses that isn't supposed to run at the moment.

'He is going to Exeter because Timmy (Murphy) can ride him there. He wouldn't have been able to go to Warwick on Saturday as David Johnson needs him at Newbury. Sam Thomas is second choice but he is needed at Newbury also.'
