FALLON OFF THE MARK

Kieren Fallon rode a welcome first winner in Britain since his return from serious injury when Regal Song scored at Musselburgh today.

Fallon brought the Tim Etherington-trained 11-2 chance with a strong run to catch Abbajabba in the closing stages of the Scottish Racing Is Fun For Everyone Handicap and prevail by a neck.

The jockey, who took the riders` championship on the Flat in 1997, 1998 and 1999, has been under close scrutiny since his British comeback at Wolverhampton on March 27.

There had been comment from some quarters that his riding style had been affected by the incident at Royal Ascot last June where he suffered a career-threatening shoulder injury.

But Fallon himself remains adamant he will regain the jockeys` title he lost to Kevin Darley last year.

Fallon went on to complete a 20-1 double aboard the Denys Smith-trained Lennel in division two of the Come Racing In Scotland Maiden Stakes.
