FITZGERALD BACK ON THURSDAY

Mick Fitzgerald has decided to delay his return to action and will resume riding at Aintree on Thursday, it emerged today

The jockey felt sore after being brought down on The Queen Mother`s Bella Macrae at the third flight of the Brunswick Handicap Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday and gave up his remaining two rides.

He had originally planned to ride at the Berkshire track tomorrow but he has decided to bypass the meeting.

'I`m going to give Ascot a miss,' said Fitzgerald, who bumped his head and suffered a shoulder injury in the fall.

'I`ve improved such a lot over the last 24 hours that I`ve decided to give myself another 24 hours to make sure I`m 100 per cent for Aintree.

'I`ll definitely be back on Thursday.'

Fitzgerald has several high-profile rides at the three-day meeting including Esprit de Cotte for his boss Nicky Henderson in the Martell Grand National on Saturday, See More Business on Thursday and Tiutchev the following afternoon.
