Fairyhouse Review Beau Michael confirmed his status as one of the leading Irish contenders for the Triumph Hurdle when making all the running to land the Grade 2 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Saturday. The Aido McGuinness trained son of Medicean jumped well throughout and saw off the challenge of Silverhand to justify odds of 6/4 and score by three-lengths. Davy Russell was on board to record his 107th winner of the season and afterwards he was very pleased with the performance, ?That was great, he was tough and he went better with a bit of company. He jumped well and galloped all the way to the line. I am over the moon.? Speaking over the phone from a skiing holiday in Austria Aido McGuinness said, ?He had a slight setback that forced him to miss a bit of work and that is why he missed Leopardstown but he is a very slick jumper and we will definitely go to the Triumph Hurdle unless it comes up very good ground.? The winner carried the colours of the Total Recall Racing Club who are made up mainly of prison officers from Mountjoy and speaking on behalf of them was David Corr, ?We are delighted he did that very well. The Triumph Hurdle is the plan unless it comes up firm I don?t think we would go. But we will speak to Aido in the morning and confirm the plans but I would say we will be too high up in the weights for the Fred Winter after that.? William Hill make Beau Michael a 20/1 shot from 33/1 for the Triumph while Sean Graham also go 20/1 from 25/1. Afistfullofdollars gave Noel Meade a slight planning problem when he landed the Grade 2 Attheraces Bobbyjo Chase in fine style in the hands of Paul Carberry. The ten-year-old who has ?broke more bones than Paul Carberry,? according to his trainer, was settled in behind One Cool Cookie before joining issue leaving the back straight. He jumped to the front at the fifth last and overcame a bad mistake at the third last to go on and score by four-lengths from Hedgehunter in second and Snowy Morning back in third. ?I don?t know whether to laugh or cry as he is not in the Gold Cup and that is the handicaps gone out the window now. I would imagine he will have to stick to the conditions races now and he might go to Aintree for the Betfair Bowl and the track at Liverpool may suit him,? said Meade. Following his return to form at Punchestown in midweek it was a much welcome return to Graded success for the champion trainer whose last winner at the top level was Jazz Messenger in the Maplewood Developments Hurdle and he concluded, ?We will just go home now and hope he is alright as he has had a lot of problems ever since his bumper days. I would say he goes on any ground and if he goes to Aintree and all goes well he could come back for the festival at Punchestown.? Dessie Hughes and Jessica Harrington stole the training honours for the day with the latter having to endure a lengthy wait before Western Gale was confirmed the winner following a stewards enquiry after the last. Mark Bolger?s mount appeared to drift to his left but the stewards deemed the interference was not enough to change the result thus completing the Harrington brace. The Robert Power ridden Chasing Cars instigated the double when landing the first division of the Friends of Sligo GAA Maiden Hurdle, a race in which odds on favourite Rocco?s Hall could only manage fifth. It was a good front running performance by Chasing Cars and afterwards the winning trainer said, ?That was very good and like some of my horses he wasn?t 100 per cent at Christmas but we decided to let him bowl along and he had them in trouble along way out. He is still in Cheltenham but we will have to have a think about it.? Dessie Hughes got off the mark in the opener when Old Si confirmed the form of his only start to date at Leopardstown when landing the St Margarets GAA Maiden Hurdle over two-miles. Ian McCarthy was recording his fifth winner on the track aboard the son of Saddlers? Hall and afterwards Hughes said, ?He is a nice horse and it is good to see he confirmed the form of the race as it doesn?t always happen like that. He quickened out to the line well and we will stick to novice hurdles before going chasing in the Autumn and he should be quite good at that.? Hughes completed the double when Deal Maker shrugged off his hint of seconditis to land the second division of the Friends Of Sligo GAA maiden hurdle. In the absence of Roger Loughran who was riding at Newcastle, Paddy Flood was the beneficiary and he never really had to get to hard at work n the five-year-old who will contest novice events at Fairyhouse and Punchestown according to the trainer. Mick The Man filled is now almost accustomed position back in second making his record read 11 runs, two wins and nine seconds in his career. Barry Connell stole the plaudits in the concluding bumper which he himself sponsored. The owner come rider was doing the steering on Pineau De Re who made every yard a winning one when claiming the final race by a massive 21-lengths. Connell sent his mount at least 30-lengths clear at one stage and his rivals never at all looked like putting a dent in the lead but afterwards trainer Philip Fenton dismissed the Cheltenham Bumper as a possibility.
