Dermot Weld is hoping that the forecast rain arrives ahead of Swelter's run in this weekends Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Unbeaten in two starts to date, the Juddmonte owned daughter of Kingman is a general 4/1 second favourite for the second Irish Classic of the season.

Speaking at Gowran Park on Wednesday, Weld said: “She’s in good order. She’s very effective on soft ground and everything back from that she’ll be less effective on.

“That’s the concern but there is a chance of some rain and we’ll be hopeful.

“I walked the track at the Curragh today (Wednesday) and it’s fast. It’s not their fault as we only got 2mm of rain.

“They’ll be watering it and will get it right. There is a good team there.”

Jockey Chris Hayes, who has been on board the filly for both runs added: "We'd obviously be conscious of the weather but, the form of her trial has worked out very well.

"She is an exciting filly. She had one start last year, she was impressive in that. It was nice to see her drop back a furlong and, quicken up in the manner she did off a fast pace. The form of the race has worked out with the third and fourth and fifth and all of those coming out and franking the form.

"Yeah, very much looking forward to it."
