Fitz delight at another ton

Mick Fitzgerald reached his century for the season when winning on the Queen Mother`s First Love at Sandown today.

His all-the-way victory aboard the Nicky Henderson-trained odds-on favourite in the Bushy Park `National Hunt` Novices Hurdle marked the fourth occasion on which the Irishman has passed the 100-winner mark in Britain.

He had been stuck on 99 since recording a double at Newbury last Saturday.

'It was fantastic to do it for Her Majesty and for the boss, the man who provides me so many of my winners,' Fitzgerald said.

'I don`t believe in all this nervous 90s carry-on, but I think Nicky was beginning to stutter. Now all we`ve we`ve got to do is get him to 100 - piece of cake, we`ll do it next week, 17 winners!'

Fitzgerald, who persuaded Henderson to let him allow First Love to bowl along, is now keenly awaiting riding the horse in novice chases next season.

'I begged him to let me make it all. He`s not dissimilar to Get Real. He`s such as good jumper and he`ll go that fast over fences. He`s big and he`ll meet everything in his stride.'
