Fortune Clear In Title Race

Jimmy Fortune remains clear of his rivals as he bids for a first win in the London Clubs International Leading Jockey Trophy at Royal Ascot.

Fortune, who still has big-race rides aboard the likes of Admiral´s Cruise in the Hardwicke Stakes and Lucarno in the King Edward VII Stakes to look forward to, notched his fifth win of the meeting aboard Winker Watson in the Norfolk Stakes.

He is three ahead of Mick Kinane and Johnny Murtagh, who both have two victories to their names.

David Williams, spokesman for Ladbrokes, said: 'He was a major ante-post plunge at 14-1 and was 8-1 coming into the week and by far our worst loser.'

In the trainers´ contest, Aidan O´Brien leads the field with three wins after the victory of Yeats in the Gold Cup.
