Fortune confirms appeal plan Jimmy Fortune is to appeal against the seven-day ban which would rule him out of York`s Dante meeting. Fortune was suspended for riding an ill-judged race on Neville Callaghan`s Port St Charles, a fast-finishing third at Brighton on Thursday. The jockey said: 'I have appealed. I don`t know when it will be heard as it only went in this morning. 'I haven`t had a chance to look at the film since as they didn`t have it yesterday but I will have a look at it tonight. At this stage I don`t want to say any more.' If Fortune`s ban (May 12th & 14th-19th) is upheld, the Irishman would miss a crucial week of Classic tests, beginning with the Lingfield Derby and Oaks Trials and covering York`s Dante and Musidora Stakes.
