Fracas In Fine Fettle

David Wachman hopes Fracas can build on a promising reappearance when he contests tomorrow's Grosser Volkswagen Preis von Baden in Germany.

The son of In The Wings won his first three starts last season before acquitting himself well in both the Derby and the Arc later in the year.

He returned to action in Group One company in Cologne last month and ran with great promise to finish a four-length second to Godolphin's Cherry Mix.

'He's in good form and we're hopeful he'll run well,' Wachman said.

'Everything has gone well since his last run and he ran well considering he hadn't run for a long time.

'He's a good, tough, solid horse and in these mile-and-a-half races he should be well able to perform well and compete.

'He's been ready to run for quite a while but the ground has been so hard in Ireland and England and France that we've just had to wait until we got some easier ground.

'The first place we got that was in Cologne a couple of weeks ago and now in Baden-Baden, so really, with regard to making plans for him, we're very much ground orientated.

Fracas will face eight rivals in the valuable event ? the last two renewals of which fell to the Clive Brittain-trained Warrsan.

Among the opposition is David Elsworth's Norse Dancer and German Derby hero Schiaparelli.
