GAA weekend betting tips: Our 5-1 accumulator The All-Ireland Football Championship is now heading towards the business end, with this weekend seeing the conclusion of the group phase. The much-maligned format that sees 16 teams reduced by only four is set for the scrapheap next year and so, typically, it has produced the most exciting finale since it was introduced. Dublin, Derry and Galway are vying for two just qualification spots in Group 4, while the big-hitting trio of Donegal, Tyrone and Mayo are all in jeopardy in Group 1 alongside Cavan with all four on two points, ensuring every team could theoretically finish in any position by full-time on Sunday. It looks set to be a highly promising weekend of football action and we have put together a 5/1 GAA treble for consideration. Dubs to take aim at Derry Dublin and Derry head for Pairc Esler in Newry for this neutral venue showdown in the 'group of death' with both sides knowing a win secures passage to the knockouts and a loss leaves them relying on help from Armagh. Kieran McGeeney's reigning All-Ireland champions are through to the quarter-finals with a game to spare. They face Galway in Breffni Park and it's hard to know what sort of attitude they will bring against a side they edged by one point in the All-Ireland final last July. For the Dubs and Derry, therefore, the only way to look is into the mirror. Victory in Newry will provide progress. Derry were much-improved in the draw with Galway in Celtic Park a fortnight ago. Conditions were horrendous but Paddy Tally's side got stuck in and should have won. They conceded four goals and ultimately needed a point after the hooter to avoid defeat, meaning Derry still have not won a league or Championship game in 2025. Dublin were comfortably beaten by Armagh in Croke Park the same afternoon, a game played in sparkling sunshine at odds with the conditions in Derry. Dessie Farrell's side kicked poorly, amassing 17 wides and quite a few that dropped short of the target. Allied to a series of second half infringements that allowed Armagh easy scores from frees, Dublin gift-wrapped that game to the Ulster side. They are unlikely to be as wasteful or generous again and the returning Con O'Callaghan is named on the bench for back-up. Even allowing for Derry's stronghold in midfield consisting of Brendan Rogers and Conor Glass, they are predicted to come up short. Tip: Dublin -2.5 points vs Derry @ 10/11 with BoyleSports Farney Army on the march Monaghan are being touted as the dark horses in the race for Sam Maguire and the Farney Army can book their quarter-final spot by accounting for Down in this winner takes all clash between the Ulster rivals with two wins apiece so far in Group 3. Both will progress, but the winner avoids a preliminary quarter-final. Last-time-out wins over Clare and Louth were achieved in contrasting fashions. Monaghan played into a stiff first-half breeze in Clones against the Banner and were trailing double-scores at half-time, before the elements helped them outscore Clare 1-18 to 1-02 in the second period. Down led Louth by 10 points at one stage in Newry but had to hang on grimly for a one-point win. With Jack McCarron excelling for the Farney Army in recent weeks they can march onwards to the last-eight at the expense of Conor Laverty's side. Tip: Monaghan to beat Down @ 4/9 with BoyleSports Goals may flow in Hyde Park Dr Hyde Park hosts perhaps the game of the weekend on Sunday as Donegal and Mayo clash in Group 1, where they join Tyrone and Cavan locked on two points apiece and with anything still possible. Mayo were abysmal in their home loss against Cavan, but then stormed Omagh to stun Tyrone. Donegal were the Red Hands’ victims in their opener before a bludgeoning win over Cavan in Breffni Park. Mayo's record at the Hyde is exceptional down the years in the confines of Connacht provincial contests, but Donegal are a different animal. Much may depend on which version of Mayo turns up, with Donegal much more dependable in relying on the likes of Michael Langan, Ciaran Thompson and Michael Murphy to excel. Jim McGuinness's side are the right favourites at 4/6 but it's far from cut and dried. At odds-against, over 2.5 goals is preferred. That outcome obliged in both teams' games in round two and this could be a helter skelter contest. Tip: Over 2.5 goals in Donegal v Mayo @ 6/5 with BoyleSports Treble: 5.07/1 with BoyleSports
