Galileo new favourite for Epsom Galileo is the new favourite for the Vodafone Derby after a convincing victory over stablemate Milan in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown this afternoon. The Sadler`s Wells colt, a wide-margin winner on his debut at this venue last autumn, is 8/1 (from 10`s) with Ladbrokes for Epsom, and the same price with Paddy Power.Mick Kinane sent the 1/3 favourite to the front inside the final quarter mile, and he quickened clear to score by three-and-a-half lengths. Milan hung towards the far rail in the straight, while Vinnie Roe was a further length back in third.'He must be very good as they are all as big as bulls, and getting very tired on the ground (officially soft)', said Aidan O`Brien in reference to the earlier odds-on defeats of three of his horses.Galileo will come back here for the Derrinstown Derby Trial next month. O`Brien and Kinane could have another Derby candidate on their hands with Pebble Island, who landed the odds (4/5, from 1/3) in the ten furlong maiden. The son of Deputy Minister led over a furlong out to beat Alassio by three and a half lengths, and O`Brien said afterwards: 'He is a grand, big horse but is still a big baby. He will come on from that run, and could be a Derby horse'.
