Galway via Ballinrobe for Won In The Dark On the flat section of tomorrow's card at Ballinrobe, Won In The Dark's name stands out like a beacon from the list of eleven runners for the opening Almotech Eclipse Maiden. Trainer Sabrina Harty said of her bargain-buy stable star on Monday afternoon: "We are hoping the ground stays relatively good for him. He is going to Galway for the G.P.T. (dayshotelgalway.com Q.R. Handicap) so we are just running him to get his handicap mark up a little bit. I'd rather run him in the high seventies (currently rated 74). "He has run in the summer time before. He just likes good ground so we decided the G.P.T. (dayshotelgalway.com Q.R. Handicap) would be a nice target for him, though knowing his luck this year it'll come up heavy. Somebody told me that the weather is to pick up the end of this week and into next week so I hope that they are right. "We hope to run tomorrow as long as it is not heavy. He is quite a clear-winded horse touch wood and he wouldn't need a lot of galloping and though he might need the run tomorrow he is usually spot on for his first run of the year." Won In The Dark will be ridden in the mile six furlong event by Rory Cleary. The son of Montjeu won the Grade 1 Durkan New Homes Juvenile Hurdle at Christmas in Leopardstown 2007, he was third in the following year's JCB Triumph Hurdle and he won the Grade 1 Eventus Marquees Champion four-year-old Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival that spring. Though without success last term, the very likeable diminutive sort held his own against the older brigade. He is due to race against ten rivals on Tuesday. (EM)
