George Washington And Authorised To Clash In Eclipse EPSOM Derby winner, Authorized, is set to clash with Aiden O'Brien's brilliantly talented, if somewhat temperamental colt, George Washington, in The Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown tomorrow. Earlier this week there had been much speculation about whether George Washington would in fact make the race, as the ground continued to deteriorate at the Esher track. However, having been declared at the final declaration stage on Thursday and with the weather set to improve on Saturday, there is now every chance that he will line up for the 10 furlong Group 1, where he'll face seven rivals, including Authorized and Notnowcato. That's great news for horseracing fans but not such great news for the punters on Betfair who were prepared to offer odds of 17-1 about George Washington earlier this week. He's now a 5-1 shot on the betting exchange, behind Authorized at 8-13. Eoin Ryan of Betfair commented:?' This has been a really lively antepost market with punters getting stuck in all week. It's going to be a tough test for the Derby winner but punters are confident he can come through it with flying colours. Although George Washington will probably line up, the ground has gone against him, hence his price of 5-1.''
