Gibraltar heads Champagne nine

Rock Of Gibraltar heads a quality field of nine runners declared today for the Rothmans Royals Champagne Stakes at Doncaster tomorrow.

Aidan O`Brien`s colt has won of three of his four starts, including the Scottish Equitable Gimcrack Stakes at York last month.

The Ballydoyle handler also saddles Wiseman`s Ferry, who was well beaten behind the stable`s Johannesburg in the Phoenix Stakes on his latest outing.

Leading the home defence will be David Loder`s Dubai Destination as the trainer bids for a repeat win in a race he won last year with Noverre.

Mark Johnston has declared the highly-touted Leo`s Luckyman, who has been disappointing in two runs since trotting up at Ayr on his debut.

Mark Tompkins is hoping for a big run from Steenberg who, like stable star Volata, is a son of Flying Spur and would like sound underfoot conditions.
