Godolphin duo on trial at Lingfield United Arab Emirates Derby failures Celtic Silence and Atlantis Prince are Godolphin`s two entries for the Arena Racing Derby Trial at Lingfield on Saturday. Celtic Silence fared better of the Saeed bin Suroor-trained pair at Nad Al Sheba in March finishing fourth behind stablemate Express Tour while Atlantis Prince was only 11th. Both figure in the betting for the Vodafone Derby, Celtic Silence 25-1 and Atlantis Prince 40-1 with Ladbrokes. Fourteen of the 18 entries for the stg£60,000 added event over the extended one mile and three furlongs are still in the Classic at Epsom on June 9th. These include Milan (20-1) and Ice Dancer (40-1), trained by Aidan O`Brien, who has also entered King`s County. The Barry Hills-trained Perfect Sunday and Luca Cumani`s Xtra are other Epsom possibles among the Derby Trial entries. Silver Grey Lady, whose full brother Silver Patriarch took the Derby Trial in 1997 before being beaten a short-head by Benny The Dip at Epsom,is among 12 entries for the stg£30,000 Arena Racing Oaks Trial. The John Dunlop-trained filly earned a 20-1 quote with Ladbrokes for the Vodafone Oaks when opening her account by six lengths in a Newbury maiden last month. Eight of the 12 fillies hold entries for the fillies` Classic at Epsom on June 8th, including Candice. The Ed Dunlop-trained filly, third to Karasta in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster last September, was backed down to 16-1 from 33-1 with William Hill, to 25-1 from 40s with Ladbrokes and 20-1 from 33s with the Tote today. All four of O`Brien`s trial entries - Dream, Fantasy Royale, Imagine and Karsavina - are in the Oaks. The ground is likely to be testing but the two-day fixture is not in doubt despite the presence of waterlogged patches in the back straight. The going is described as soft, heavy in places, with the back straight and round course heavy (waterlogged) in places.
