Godolphin leave four in Dubai World Cup

Godolphin will have four representatives in Saturday`s seventh running of the richest horse race in the world, the Dubai World Cup.

The quartet will be headed by last year`s Arc de Triomphe and Breeders` Cup hero Sakhee who hardened in the betting today with the news that possible rival Nayef sidesteps the race.

Nayef will instead be aimed at the Dubai Sheema Classic over a mile and a half on the same card.

The decision to bypass the World Cup with Nayef comes despite jockey Richard Hills stating earlier this week that he preferred the 10-furlong option for the colt.

A total of 23 horses trained locally by bin Suroor were declared today for Saturday`s card.

Best of the Bests (Jamie Spencer), State Shinto (Ted Durcan) and Street Cry (Jerry Bailey) will also take their chances in the showpiece event.

Sakhee, the 4-9 favourite from 4-6 with Coral, impressed workwatchers with a five-furlong spin at home early this morning as he completed his final preparations.
