Gorman and Manning Double Up

Jim Gorman is enjoying an excellent season having had some lean times in the past and the Dubliner saddled winners number five and six of the campaign when Tosach Nua made it third time lucky in the opening Fonacab Auction Maiden at Down Royal and Hassanali completed a double for the Curragh handler in the last.

With Royal Ascot hero, Kevin Manning in the saddle for both, Tosach Nua, 15/8 favourite, led in the final quarter mile and the son of Hawkeye had his race won from over a furlong out, going on to beat the morning price market mover, Imprudent Miss, by two and a half lengths.

The fact that Gorman bred the juvenile in partnership with A J Poulton will have obviously added to his satisfaction at the success.

Paddy Kehoe´s purple and gold silks were carried to victory in the concluding Compass Windows Handicap courtesy of Hassanali (perhaps an omen for the Wexford GAA teams at Croke Park tomorrow). This 3/1 favourite brought up a ten and a half to one brace for Gorman and Manning.
