Green Light for Rematch

It has been all upbeat news from the Alamshar camp following Sunday’s thrilling Budweiser Irish Derby success.

John Oxx reported his charge to have come out of the race in ‘real good shape’ and confirmed that his next objective would be a rematch with Kris Kin in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot on July 26.

Garry O’Gorman, Senior Irish Flat handicapper has raised the Aga Khan’s colt by 6Ib to a new mark of 126 following consultations with counterparts Nigel Gray and Gerald Sauque. This makes Alamshar the new champion-elect three-year-old in Europe. However it isn’t as good as Sinndar on 128 or Galileo on 129, but is on a par with High Chaparral after his win in the race twelve months ago.
