Greene returns with Cool success

Rodi Greene warmed up for a trip to Japan for the Nakayama Grand Jump with victory on Mr Cool at Chepstow today.

Greene returned to action at the Welsh track after bruising his neck in a fall from Delaware over the Grand National fences in the Martell Topham Chase at Aintree last Friday.

Now that he has proved his fitness, Greene is looking forward to riding Exit Swinger for Martin Pipe in the valuable chase in the Far East on Saturday.

'I`ve seen lots and lots of videos. I watched a video that Mr Pipe gave me the other night about 20 times,' Greene told the Racing Channel.

'The course is a figure of eight, galloping with quite sweeping bends. The fences are all brush fences and shouldn`t be a problem to Exit Swinger.

'The prize money is unreal with up to about Stg£500,000 to the winner and it goes right down to eighth, so I`ll be trying very hard.'

Greene, whose injury cost him a prestigious winning ride on Ilnamar in the Martell Aintree Hurdle, although he didwin the Coral Eurobet Cup on that horse at the Cheltenham Festival to crown his season.

And he enjoyed an easy comeback success in the Hills `County Homes` Novices` Chase on Mr Cool, who trotted up by a distance from the only other finisher Prah Sands in a three-horse affair.

Greene was deputising for champion jockey Tony McCoy, who is serving a two-day riding ban.
