HAYDOCK GOES AHEAD

This afternoon`s meeting at Haydock Park, which features the Group One Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup, has been given the go-ahead following a 7.30 inspection this morning.

Friday`s card had been abandoned after the third race when the course was deemed unraceable following heavy rain during the day.

However, after the stewards inspected the track this morning clerk of the course Lisa Rowe said: 'Racing goes ahead. The going is heavy but we are raceable.

'We had a further eight millimetres of rain after racing yesterday but it stopped at 8.30pm and it has been dry since.

'We would not be able to cope with any more significant rainfall. Scattered showers are forecast which we would be able to cope with.

'There is no standing water on the course and the running rail on the top and bottom bends will be pulled out.'
