HENDERSON DUO TO HEAD STRAIGHT FOR AINTREE Nicky Henderson has scrapped plans to give his leading hurdlers Geos and Landing Light a racecourse gallop in preparation for their next run. The duo, winners of the Christmas Hurdle and Tote Gold Trophy respectively, are set to go straight to Liverpool for the Martell Aintree Hurdle on April 7th. Their trainer does not want to risk them on unsuitable ground. He said today: 'They are both fit and well and the ground has been so bad that I think they will both go straight to Liverpool for the Aintree Hurdle. 'A racecourse gallop is only useful if it is constructive and the ground has been so bad that I think it would do more harm than good.' The two hurdlers may be joined at Aintree by leading Queen Mother Champion Chase hope Tiutchev and top novice chaser Bacchanal. 'Aintree would not be my favourite place for Bacchanal but at least it would get a run into him,' Henderson said. 'He might have a racecourse gallop somewhere this week. 'I think Tiutchev will go to Aintree for the Mumm Melling Chase.'
