Owner Derek Kierans and trainer Gavin Cromwell had this morning taken Velvet Elvis out of the Bar One Racing Leinster National Handicap Chase (Listed) with an allergy. They had a cracking representative for the Naas feature in any case, and their Hartur D'arc (4/1) ended up scoring in style in the hands of Sean Flanagan.

Crowmell had earlier tasted Grade Three Limerick glory through the J P McManus-owned and Simon Torrens-ridden Bioluminescence and Hartur D'arc was equally convincing with the manner of his victory.

Runner-up Positive Thinker proved a doughty enough opponent, but Hartur D'arc is now two from two since joining Cromwell and he did it easier than the length and a half winning margin would suggest. In truth he was looking good from a long way out in the three miler.

“That was nice. We weren't really sure whether he'd stay but obviously when we pitched him in here we thought he might,” said Cromwell.

“He gave him a nice ride and everything happened for him. It was a lovely pot to win.

“You'd have to consider the Irish National with him, I know it's a lot further.”
